Education & Childcare students from Solihull College & University Centre and Stratford-upon-Avon College recently took part in a competition to create sustainable curriculum resources based on children’s books.
The challenge was linked to one or more early years foundation stage statutory framework areas of learning to support students’ course work.
Following the recent college final, winners advanced to the inter-college final where they competed against students from Dudley College, South Staffordshire College and Halesowen College.

Endorsed by WorldSkills, there were three categories based on qualification level to ensure all students from levels 1-3 were able to take part.
Katie Miller, Competition Lead for the College, commented, “It was a fantastic day. The standard of entries was incredible and the students demonstrated real creativity, confidence, and a strong understanding of how to support children’s learning through play.
Competitions like this give learners a real sense of purpose – helping them to apply what they’ve learned in a meaningful way, build confidence, and develop the kinds of employability skills that will help them thrive in their future careers.”
Congratulations to all students that took part!
