College introduces social value excellence recognition for local businesses: Meaningful Action. Memorable Recognition.

21st May 2025

Solihull College & University Centre has introduced a new digital rewards scheme to support employers in achieving and evidencing their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) impact, in particular Social Value.

Social value is often a key differentiator in winning contracts, tenders and partnerships, but can be difficult to quantify and evidence. This new scheme will help employers to make meaningful impact and get the recognition they deserve.

There are over 20 ways for employers to get involved, by choosing which types of social value engagement or activity best aligns with their business goals. With bronze, silver and gold badges available, the level of engagement will determine which badge the employer will be rewarded. The digital badges can be displayed on websites, email signatures, LinkedIn profiles and can be displayed on the College’s Employer Wall of Impact.

Social Value Programme Manager at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, Carol Glenn, an advocate of the scheme, comments: “When a business works with the college, the badge scheme proves they have not only delivered their social value, but have made a real difference to young peoples’ lives in Solihull.”

Business Development Director at the College, Nadia Davies, commented, “Meaningful social value is a powerful way for businesses to gain strategic advantage by leading with purpose and outperforming with impact. Our region is bursting with organisations who do wonderful things to support their communities, and this initiative is our way of capturing that impact, celebrating it, and inspiring even more of the good stuff!”

The benefits of providing opportunities to students opens doors, builds confidence and helps younger people thrive. Joining this scheme will help businesses build their brand and reputation, create new opportunities for those who may not have had access, and showcases what leadership in action looks like.
