College launches community project to support North Solihull residents

4th November 2025

Solihull College & University Centre is launching an exciting new community initiative aimed at supporting residents in North Solihull to re-engage with learning, skills development in a drive to help their local community.

The project, funded by West Midlands Combined Authority, seeks to create social impact opportunities which will help individuals build confidence, learn new skills, and contribute positively to their local area.

Programme Manager for Community Education at Solihull College & University Centre, Katrina Griffin-Jones, believes it is a great opportunity for local people to create long lasting community projects. She comments: “This initiative is about empowering people who may feel disconnected from work or education to find a new sense of purpose through community-led projects. We want this to be a true collaboration – one that reflects the creativity, resilience, and aspirations of North Solihull residents.”

Solihull College & University Centre has a long-standing commitment to delivering inclusive, high-quality learning opportunities that transform lives. This new project will build on that mission by focusing on activities suggested by local residents such as community art, environmental action, and mental health projects.

Residents are encouraged to get involved by submitting their ideas for community projects that could make a difference in their neighbourhoods – from small-scale initiatives to larger collaborations.

The College is working alongside Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and other local organisations to spread the word about this groundbreaking project.
