College opens its doors to school leavers
Wednesday, 21 January, 2015

Throughout February and March, Solihull College will be opening its doors to school leavers as it hosts the annual Next Step events which allow learners to try taster sessions of subjects. All subject areas, including Animal Care, Engineering, Photography, Construction and Hairdressing will be holding ‘Try It! Love It! Learn It!’ sessions.

The College’s Next Step events will be held at both the Blossomfield and Woodlands Campuses.

The events have been designed as a hands-on, interactive experience to help reinforce the decision about the course students have chosen to pursue. The events will also give the opportunity to meet tutors and ask questions about any aspect of the course, as well as learning about the qualifications and experience needed to get into both employment and University. Information about the variety of career pathways relating to the chosen subject will also be provided at the events.
Sue McGregor, Director of Curriculum at the College comments: “School leavers are faced with so many choices and our aim is to help them eliminate and shortlist any options they may have, they may also discover subject areas they may have not considered before. We hope many young people across Solihull and Birmingham will find these events invaluable and that we might be welcoming them in as new students in September”.

Starting on Tuesday 10 February and continuing until Thursday 19 March, nearly thirty subject areas will be on offer across both campuses. Students are advised to check the website for more details and sessions must be booked beforehand.
