Engineering students from Solihull College & University Centre recently had the opportunity to work on a special project to mark the 80th anniversary of Armistice Day.
The project, intended to bring history to life through the use of modern equipment and technology, captured the imagination of attendees at the Engineering parent’s evening at Woodlands Campus.
T-Level students also put together a presentation demonstrating the impact of the two World Wars on the local area. This included details about manufacturing, the destruction caused and how the local area demonstrated resilience and community spirit. It was insightful and visual storytelling to accompany the models on display.
Head of School for Engineering, Ahmed Hussein, commented: “The students’ work is a powerful reminder of how engineering can bring history to life. Their creativity and technical skill in producing the RAF models, red poppies, and Spitfire components not only showcase their talent but also honour the bravery and sacrifice marked by the 80th anniversary of Armistice Day. This project beautifully connects education, innovation, and remembrance.”
