A hard-working student is celebrating after achieving a first-class BA Honours Degree in Business & Management at the end of her 5 ½ year journey at Solihull College & University Centre.

Lauren Spensley, 22 from Solihull, studied at the College alongside full time work. She began with an engineering-based apprenticeship at a tier 1 automotive supplier where she gained experience in various departments within the business.

Studying at Woodlands Campus in Smiths Wood, Lauren studied a Level 2 and 3 BTEC Diploma in Engineering.

After completing her engineering qualifications she progressed onto the two year Foundation Degree in Business Management & Communications at Blossomfield Campus – achieving a distinction grade awarded by Oxford Brookes University, before continuing on to the Top Up Degree where she has recently received the first-class honours result.

Lauren believes support has been a large factor in her college journey and looks forward to the future. “During my time at college I have enjoyed the teaching and received great support from dedicated and experienced tutors. I have enjoyed this whole experience and I am over the moon with my results; it feels like all the hard work has paid off.”

Following her apprenticeship, Lauren progressed from Trainee Buyer and then progressed her career to Dana Automotive as a commodity buyer for Europe. The company have continued to support Lauren throughout her studies.
