LinkedIn workshop encourages students to network

13th May 2025

HND Computing (Cyber Security) students have been introduced to the world of online networking with a special workshop focusing on professional social media platform LinkedIn.

The workshop featured guest speakers, interactive sessions and highlighted the importance of using the platform to promote personal brand and utilise it as a networking tool to promote early career growth.

The day also featured cross college interaction. Level 2 Photography students were on hand to ensure professional headshots were taken for participants’ profiles.

Personal Development Coach, Ash Habib, commented: “It was a real privilege to design and deliver the LinkedIn and personal branding workshop. The students’ enthusiasm made the day so rewarding, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who helped bring it all together especially Kinza Waheed and Jat Sidhu, whose support throughout the day was invaluable. From our inspiring guest speakers to the brilliant colleagues supporting behind the scenes, it was a genuine team effort, and I’m proud of what we created together.”

A highlight of the workshop was hearing from James McLeary, CIO and CISO at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Thailand who joined via video link. With over 25 years’ global experience at global organisations, James shared powerful insights into cyber leadership and generously encouraged students to connect with him on LinkedIn.

Ash is hopeful the students took a lot from the workshop: “It felt fantastic to present students with certificates of participation, a meaningful recognition of their commitment to developing their professional identity. It’s important for our young professionals to not wait to get connected. The future belongs to those who show up, and there’s no better time than now. We are looking to do more workshops for students and staff over the coming months.”
