Local businesses are proving that social value is more than a buzzword and three employers have now set the standard by achieving the first Silver badges for Social Value Excellence.
The first award was presented to Cybercy Group who have worked in partnership with the College on various initiatives and have made a big impact in a short space of time. Cybercy’s commitment to creating opportunities and ‘giving back’ saw them bypass Bronze and qualify for Silver.

This was achieved through the creation of two industry placements for Computing T-Level students, delivering an engaging keynote talk to a large group of Computing students, judging entries in our Apprenticeship Impact Awards and hosting a placement for local university student.
Sunny Vara, CEO of Cybercy commented: “We are honoured to be the first organisation recognised under Solihull College’s new Social Value Excellence scheme – and to be awarded Silver status from the outset is a fantastic endorsement of our partnership.
“At Cybercy Group, we are passionate about creating real world impact and collaboration with education partners is central to that mission. ?By engaging with students, apprentices and graduates, we’re helping to shape the future of cyber security and build the workforce of tomorrow.
“This recognition is a proud milestone on our journey, and we look forward to continuing to innovate, invest and inspire – with Gold firmly in our sights.”
Two more local employers have also achieved the Silver Award through outstanding commitment to creating meaningful impact.
Pertemps Group, secured Silver as a result of their commitment and innovative collaboration including; contribution to the Business Employer Advisory Board, sponsorship & judging for the Apprenticeship Impact Awards, creation/publication of resources to inspire primary/secondary school girls to choose careers in engineering and inclusion of two female College students and one staff member in the new ‘Pertemps Engineering Podcast’.
Solihull Day Care is the third employer to celebrate a Silver Award. This was achieved due to their commitment to developing talent through the Early Years Educator apprenticeship route, contribution to the Early Years Employer Advisory Board and ongoing support with attracting new talent into early years, training & education.

Nadia Davies, Director of Business Development added: “I’m absolutely thrilled to celebrate our first three employer’s silver achievement in Social Value Excellence! It shows what is possible when organisations step up to make a difference beyond profit.
“It is inspiring to see more employers than ever stepping up and collecting points. This isn’t just about individual businesses, it’s about building a culture of social value that we can all be proud of. The fact that so many employers are already signed up and actively earning points shows how committed our business community is to creating positive change together”.
As a college we value the contributions of all our employer partners and remain committed to working side by side to create opportunities, raise aspirations, and deliver real impact for businesses and communities.
