Uniformed Protective Services students recently welcomed West Midlands Police to Blossomfield Campus for a special careers day.
The team spoke to students about the variety of roles available within modern policing. Firearms officers and police on horses were also on hand to chat to students about their roles within the force.
UPS Programme Manager, Kim Marshall, said it was a very positive day for the students: “The Police Careers Event was a huge success. The information stands gave learners valuable insights into the wide range of careers within the force, with police officers and engagement and consultations officers on hand to answer questions throughout the day. Students particularly benefited from the Stop and Search workshops, gaining a clear understanding of procedures, protocols and their rights, supported by real examples from the team. The firearms team and mounted branch also proved incredibly popular, drawing interest from students across all departments of the College.”
The event formed part of a series of visits from different protective services, including the army, navy, RAF, and Fire Service to give students insight into career options.
