Successful completion of this course will prepare learners to progress to Spanish for Holidaymakers Part 2, where they will expand their vocabulary, improve their conversational skills, and develop a deeper understanding of Spanish grammar and culture.
This introductory course is designed for complete beginners or those with very little knowledge of Spanish. It provides a practical introduction to the language, focusing on the words, phrases, and cultural understanding needed to cope with common holiday situations.
Learners will develop basic communication skills through topics such as greetings and introductions, numbers and time, eating and drinking, shopping, travel, accommodation, and asking for directions. Alongside useful vocabulary and phrases, learners will begin to explore Spanish pronunciation, simple grammar patterns, and commonly used verbs.
By the end of the course, learners will have the confidence to use basic Spanish in a range of everyday holiday situations.

This is a personal development course.
Assessment will be ongoing and informal, based on participation and progress throughout the course. Learners will demonstrate their skills through speaking activities, role plays, listening tasks and practical conversational exercises. Feedback from the tutor will help learners identify their strengths and areas for further development.
