Where will this course lead?

Our Beauty Therapy Level 2 qualification is for those who wish to enter the beauty industry at the base level and work on fundamental skills, progressing to a higher level and more specialised area upon completion.

What will I study?

On this course you will study:

- Facial treatments

- Eyelash and brow treatments

- Manicure treatments

- Pedicure Treatments

- Makeup application

- Client care and Communication

- Health and safety in a salon environment

- Remove Hair using waxing techniques

- Apply skin tanning techniques

How will this course be delivered?

The course will be delivered within a commercial salon and a theory class room. Our Beauty therapy facilities consist of 3 state of the art beauty salons with interactive whiteboards, you will be using salon exclusive products. The qualification will include external multiple-choice exams, assignments and practical assessments.

What qualifications will I get?

Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be on-going and it is in a range of different tasks, half the course will involve practical assessments assessed within our college commercial salons, and the other half within a theory classroom which will involve assignments, external multiple-choice exams and course work.

How do I get a place on the course?

A successful College interview will be required.

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including English

What else do I need to know?

The course will run at our Blossomfield and Woodlands Campus.

Trips and external training will be offered subject to additional costs.

Enhancement activities (e.g. Elemis product training; external speakers and demonstration.)

You will need to come equipped with beauty therapy tools/equipment.

Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.

If you haven't achieved an A*/9 - C/4 grade in Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.

Beauty Therapist

Beauticians and related workers give facial and body beauty treatments and apply cosmetics.

What’s Involved?

Beauty Therapists discuss clients requirements, analyse and advise clients on appropriate skin care, and apply treatments to the face or body. They massage scalp, face and other parts of the body and carry out spray tanning. They use waxing, threading, sugaring and other epilation techniques to remove any unwanted body hair. They also clean, shape and polish finger and toe nails, apply nail extensions. They apply make-up to hide blemishes or enhance facial features and advise clients on skin care and make-up techniques. They perform specialist treatments for conditions such as acne, apply skin rejuvenation therapies. They recognise problems and refer clients to medical practitioners if appropriate. They also advise clients on diet and exercise to assist in weight loss and slimming. They maintain client records, sell and advise on cosmetic products and services, and ensure appropriate health and safety issues are addressed.
