Our Level 2 course in Electrical and Electronics Technology provides a broad range of interrelated subjects based around the Electrotechnical and Engineering Industries, giving you a wide spectrum of industry knowledge to experience the sector in all aspects, with scope to choose a specific branch to specialise in.

Approximately, 2/3 of the course will be in the workshops for learning bench fitting and manufacture. The remainder of the course will be classroom based. Some of this course will involve practical aspects in a real workshop with simulated installation and inspection tasks, and the other sessions are theory based, taught in the classroom. The Electrical installation workshop allows students to simulate testing, inspection and fault finding scenarios.
Engineering Level 2 Diploma CG 2850 25
To pass this course you will complete all the units including the two online units: Unit 201 (Working in Engineering) and 202 (Principles of Engineering Technology), both being an on-line, multiple choice theory test. The rest of the units involve coursework and written exam. A practical item will be manufactured in the workshop for each discipline and will be assessed as meeting the Engineering Drawing requirements. A one hour written test will accompany each of the practical assessments.
An Interview with tutor, screening tests, and an on-line initial assessment for literacy and numeracy levels.

Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.
If you haven't achieved an A*/9 -C/4 grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.

This pre-apprenticeship programme is designed to equip you with the practical skills and knowledge needed to enter the engineering industry. Many students progress to Level 3 upon completion of this program. The Level 2 (2850-25) is suitable for those who want to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering. This course will give you both the skills and the confidence to enter employment in all areas of electrical installation, including working as a domestic, commercial or industrial employee.
Alternatively, it will prepare you for continuing study in related subjects such as the City & Guilds 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma (apprenticeship placement/work placement required).
