Where will this course lead?

This is a two year course which leads on to an exciting range of higher level courses, including HNC/D Computing, Esport, Sport, Business and Leisure industries. 

This Level 3 Diploma has been developed to meet the upcoming demand for skills in Esports, including developing technical skills in computer networking as well as games development.  

The qualification includes a wide range of transferable skills that will enable you to experience different areas of Esports and aid your progression to employment, directly or via further study. 

Esports offers a unique opportunity to study a sector that crosses over multiple subject areas such as Sport, Marketing, Enterprise, and the creatives. It provides an opportunity for alignment of social, physical, mental and financial skills into one qualification to deepen and expand learning. These are skills that are highly valued in the changing and fluid workplace. All learners must apply strategy, skill and teamwork to be successful.

What will I study?

During the first year you will study: 

Unit 1: Introduction to Esports. 

Unit 2: Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis. 

Unit 3: Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry. 

Unit 4: Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for 
Esports Players. 

After successfully completing the first year you will study: 

Unit 5: Esports Events. 

Unit 7: Producing an Esports Brand. 

Unit 9: Games Design. 

Unit 14: Nutrition for Esports performance. 

Unit 20: Computer networking. 

How will this course be delivered?

This is a two year course which is assessed through a combination of practical observations, portfolio evidence of assessment, case study work and evidence of underpinning knowledge.

What qualifications will I get?

At the end of the course you will have achieved: 

BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Esports (2 A-Level equivalent).

Units working towards content related to CISCO Internet of Everything Certificate and CISCO Introduction to Cyber Security Certificate. 

How will I be assessed?

All units are assessed by assignments internally set and marked by the College. 

How do I get a place on the course?

You can get a place on the course by completing an application form or applying online for an interview. Applicants are invited for an interview with a member of the School of Computing. 

What are the entry requirements?

3 GCSEs grade A*-C (4-9 in Maths or English) 

What else do I need to know?

You will need pens, pencils, lined A4 paper and an A4 lever arch file for your work for the examined units. 

The course is endorsed by the British Esports Association, meaning that it will be recognised by employers and supports entry into the industry in a range of roles. 

The course is also recognised by industry and higher education and carries UCAS points. 

As part of this study programme, you will also be required to participate in a work experience placement. 

For most students there is no fee for this course. However, for students aged 19 or over at the start of the course or who have already completed a Level 3 course previously there is a charge. 

During the first year there are no additional costs apart from supplying a data stick, pens, pencils and lined A4 paper. 

What can I do after this course?

This is a two year course which leads on to higher education, a level 4 apprenticeship, a degree apprenticeship or into employment.
