The Short Film Lab - CPD Bootcamp is a dynamic 10-week programme that brings together creative professionals from across the West Midlands to foster collaboration, build networks, and develop filmmaking skills. Designed for those looking to elevate their careers in the arts and creative industries, this bootcamp offers a unique opportunity to work on ambitious short film projects while gaining invaluable professional development through workshops.

Participants will collaborate on a short film project with a £1,000 production budget and access to filmmaking equipment. Through evening masterclasses, you'll refine your skills in storytelling, production, and marketing while building valuable networks.
The bootcamp focuses on storytelling through moving image, offering a structured approach to development, production, and marketing:
- Development: Learn how to develop concepts, craft compelling narratives, and pitch project ideas.
- Pre-Production: Explore processes and tools to plan and manage production logistics.
- Marketing & Distribution: Understand key strategies to market and showcase your project effectively.
The 10-week Bootcamp combines practical, project-based learning with expert-led evening masterclasses:
- Sessions are held Tuesday evenings, 4:30-9 pm. Following the Bootcamp, there will also be production and post-production days if you wish to take part.
- Project Work: Participants will collaborate on one or more moving image projects and receive ongoing mentorship.
- Facilities & Resources: You'll have access to Solihull College's filmmaking equipment. A £1,000 overall budget, per Bootcamp, is allocated to support production needs, including props, costumes, and location fees.
There is no formal qualification.

To qualify for this FREE* course, you must be over 19 years of age and living in a West Midlands Combined Authority postcode (Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Wolverhampton).
Due to the nature of the course, we will be travelling around the West Midlands for workshops. This course is free if you are aged 19+ and live in the West Midlands.
