This course is ideal for a beginner or for those with some experience. It is an ideal first step and could lead to employment or be a great hobby for well-being.
You will learn how to create and decorate biscuits, petit four sweets and Cupcakes / mini cakes appropriate for a Christmas theme to a professional level.
Students will learn how to mix royal icing, buttercream, glazed icing, and how to work with the above ingredients as well as fondant, chocolate and marzipan.
Students will learn the intricacies of flood- out work, brush embroidery, stencilling, cake toppers and modelling with marzipan.
Students will also learn how to use various piping tubes, with royal icing, buttercream, and how to make various sizes of piping bags as well as purchasing them.
Practical class-based work lead by tutor demonstration; Preparation such as cooking small cakes and biscuits will be done at home. However biscuits and cakes can be purchased from various retailers.
This is a personal enrichment programme.
This course is for personal development and is informally assessed by the tutor with self-assessment and evaluation by the student.
