The AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is an Ofqual-regulated qualification (603/2790/X) designed for individuals working or volunteering in education, early years, or care settings. It is often available for free via funding initiatives for adults aged 19+ (such as 'Free Courses for Jobs').
This course is made up of 5 mandatory units.
1 - Development of children and young people
2 - Professional practice in special educational needs service
3 - How to support children and young people to achieve learning potential
4 - How to support children and young people with speech, language, and communication needs
5 - How to support children and young people and those with specific requirements
This course will only be available as an online course and should take no more than 17 weeks to complete as flexible learning using an online platform. Support will be provided by a sector specialist tutor.

Assessments will be marked by a tutor who will provide you with detailed feedback and guidance. You will be assessed against the course criteria. All learning outcomes of the course must be met to achieve the qualification.

Some adults enrolling onto a level 3 course, which is part of 'Free Courses for Jobs' offer who have not already received a full level 3 qualification or already have a full level 3 qualification however are unemployed or on a low wage may be fully funded and entitled to fee remission. Entry Requirements
* You must be aged 19+ * You must live in England (not available to people living in Ireland, Scotland or Wales) * You must have been an EU resident for at least 3 years
This course will take around 17 weeks to complete using an online platform.
This course is knowledge based only. No assessments in a workplace are required.
There is no end test.
If you do not complete the course, will you be charged £125.00 for non-completion.
You can enrol on to any of our other free Flexible Learning Courses.
You could move into a job role such as a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, a Family Support Worker or a Care Support Worker.
You could consider progressing on to the Level 3 Diploma for The Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) or the Level 3 Teaching and Learning qualification.
