Where will this course lead?

Challenging behaviour is causing increasing concern today, as many individuals have increasing levels of stress and uncertainty in their lives. This behaviour can be due to factors such as anxiety, neglect, abuse, learning disabilities and conditions like dementia. Understanding the causes of challenging behaviour is the first step towards finding ways to support individuals and manage their behaviour.

What will I study?

· What is meant by the term 'behaviour that challenges'?

· How to recognise changes in individuals that may indicate an episode of challenging behaviour

· The importance of non-verbal communication

· How reflection on an incident can assist in managing future behaviour

How will this course be delivered?

6 weeks distance learning (2 assessments).

What qualifications will I get?

Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments will be marked by an allocated tutor who will provide you with detailed feedback. You will be assessed against criteria where all learning outcomes of the course have to be covered; your tutor will give you guidance for this.

What are the entry requirements?

No specific entry requirements, but an initial assessment will be completed at enrolment.

What else do I need to know?

You must be aged 19+ and be a British or Irish citizen that has lived within the UK for at least 3 years. You must also be based in England; however, some postcode exclusions apply - please enquire for confirmation of eligibility. In addition to this, please note that participants cannot be currently enrolled on an apprenticeship.

These courses are fully funded at zero cost unless they are not completed and learning materials are retained by the learner; please note that in these circumstances, there is a £125 fee.
