Introduction to Science
What will I study?
The course will cover the basics of the three main branches of science:
- Biology: Cell theory, human anatomy, genetics, and basic ecology.
- Chemistry: The periodic table, atomic structure, states of matter, and basic chemical reactions.
- Physics: Forces and energy, the solar system, and sustainability.
What qualifications will I get?
No formal qualification.
How will I be assessed?
Tutor assessment throughout.

What else do I need to know?
The course will also teach the learner essential scientific skills i.e. how to think scientifically and provide practical lab & safety knowledge.
What can I do after this course?
This course provides a strong foundation for further study in science and related subjects. It can help learners progress onto higher-level science qualifications, Access to Higher Education programmes, GCSE Science, or vocational courses in areas such as healthcare, environmental science, engineering, and laboratory sciences. The transferable skills developed, including problem-solving, critical thinking, practical investigation, and safe working practices, are also highly valued in a wide range of educational and employment settings.
