Where will this course lead?

The Perfect Puppy Training course provides the foundations for training a well-balanced dog including basic obedience, handling and desensitisation to grooming/health checks.

What will I study?

Throughout your studies, you will cover the following:

  • About puppies: how puppies develop and grow, what to expect from your puppy at various ages, common puppy problems and how to address them.
  • Creating structure: why routines are important for puppies, how to create boundaries for your puppy.
  • Bond building: how to health check and perform basic grooming tasks, safe and appropriate handling, desensitisation to touch and relationship building activities.
  • General obedience: teaching sit, stay, leave it, place, recall, loose lead walking and neutrality.

How will this course be delivered?

You will be required to spend 6 evenings at Solihull College, Blossomfield Campus. The course delivery will consist of both practical and theory sessions.

What qualifications will I get?

A college certificate.

How will I be assessed?

There will be no formal assessment for this course.

What are the entry requirements?

This course is open to all current or future puppy owners who want to learn about their puppies and training them.

What else do I need to know?

This course is for puppies up to 9 months and all puppies should be vaccinated.

All equipment for the course will be provided and included in the cost of the course but its advisable to bring paper and a pen.
