This intensive Skills Bootcamp prepares you for entry-level roles across the creative industries, including Screen, Theatre, Live Events and Themed Entertainment, with a focus on maximising employment opportunities within art and production design departments. You'll gain practical skills and industry knowledge to begin your career in areas such as props, scenic art, art direction, graphics, and set construction. Learners typically secure assistant-level positions within these departments, with many progressing into specialist roles as they apply their training in professional settings. The bootcamp also provides invaluable networking opportunities, helping you build the confidence, connections and industry awareness needed to pursue a successful career in production design.
You'll immerse yourself in the creative and technical world of production design, gaining insight into the structure of the Art Department and the broad range of roles available to explore.
You'll learn about key roles in the department from the Production Designer and Art Director, to Concept and Storyboard Artists, Set Decorators, Dressers and Production Buyers.
You'll develop practical skills essential for entry-level positions in both screen and live productions and gain an understanding of the nuanced requirements for each sector. You'll master prop notes, learn techniques for aging and modifying props, and develop skills in creating prop "rigs" that bring magic to life on screen. Set Decoration and Buying will teach you to translate scripts into practical elements, create compelling mood boards, and develop professional photography skills for prop documentation and categorisation.
This immersive bootcamp combines hands-on workshops with professional insights delivered by current industry professionals. You'll participate in practical workshops that simulate real production scenarios.
