Accounting students gain employment

25th May 2016

Two students from Solihull College & University Centre have gained employment as they look to complete their AAT Accounting Level 2 qualifications at the College.

Tyge Ible and Marie Barnett are due to complete their qualification within the coming months, yet have already been offered jobs upon completion of their diploma. Tyge has been offered an apprenticeship with property management company Bilfinger GVA as a Credit Controller, whilst Marie has been offered a full-time position with Colmore Tang Construction as an Accounts Assistant.

Both students will be continuing with their studies alongside their new employment as they progress to complete their Level 3 AAT Accounting qualifications.

Marie and Tyge agreed that their course has helped to develop their accounting skills, which has led to them gaining employment. Tyge commented that the Business Communication module helped when securing his apprenticeship with the property management company. Marie added: “Learning about payroll and Sage in college really helped when applying for my new role.”

Both students added that they have enjoyed the course at the College and received a good level of support from their tutors. Many of Marie and Tyge’s accounting peers will also be progressing onto the Level 3 qualification at the College to further improve their employability prospects.
