Solihull College & University Centre is proud to be supporting a former student and England international this summer as the Lionesses look to defend their Euros title.

Jess Carter studied on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport at the College’s Blossomfield Campus back in 2017. During her time at the College, Jess was awarded PFA Young Player of the Year. She then moved from Birmingham City women to Chelsea where she helped the team win multiple titles.

During this time, Jess was selected by the England women’s national team and was part of the squad that won the UEFA European Championships in England under Sarina Weigman, beating Germany in the final at Wembley in 2022. She was also in the squad that got to the World Cup final narrowly losing to Spain.

Jess recently left Chelsea to join Gotham FC in the National Women’s Soccer League based in the USA.

Head of School for Sport and Public Services, Phil Trilloe, remembers her time at the College well. He comments: “Jess was an excellent student and athlete and a really positive role model. We are all extremely proud of all her amazing achievements in her professional football career since leaving us. We will all be supporting the Lionesses this summer as they look to retain their title in the Euros.”
