College signs UK Feminista Action pledge

3rd September 2025

Solihull College & University Centre has taken a significant step in its mission to create an inclusive, respectful, and safe learning environment for all by signing the UK Feminista Action Pledge.

The pledge enables schools and colleges across the UK to publicly demonstrate that they recognise sexism as a national issue in education and are committed to taking meaningful, whole college action to address it.

This important milestone builds upon the groundwork laid by Sasha Georgieva, Student Voice Officer, who began raising awareness of sexism and sexual harassment during her time as a student at the College. Since then, the College has continued to strengthen its approach by introducing initiatives such as training sessions and workshops for staff and students.

Sasha explains: “Signing the pledge is an important milestone in the College’s journey towards tackling sexism. This is an issue that I have been passionate about since my role as Women’s Officer when I was a student, and I am now excited about the opportunity to work with UK Feminista, who are tackling sexism in schools and colleges across the country.”

As part of this ongoing commitment, Sasha is leading a year-long campaign called ‘Protect the Vibe’, designed to actively engage the student body in conversations about inclusivity, respect, and safety, ensuring that the culture of the College remains supportive for everyone.

This pledge demonstrates Solihull College & University Centre’s dedication to embedding a whole college approach to challenging sexism and sexual harassment and ensuring all students and staff feel empowered, respected, and valued.

Staff and students who would like to get involved in the ‘Protect the Vibe’ campaign or in wider initiatives to tackle sexism are encouraged to contact Sasha.
