Forensics expert, Joe Butler, from Eurofins Forensic Services (EFS) recently delivered a Drug Analysis session to Forensic & Criminal Investigation students at Solihull College & University Centre.
EFS provide forensic services to the England and Wales Criminal Justice System and belong to one of the world’s leading laboratory networks.
Joe delivered an interactive session to the students as well as giving them information on the various career paths available within the forensic sector.
Forensic and Criminal Investigation Course Leader, Fabio Lorenzini, comments: “It’s so important for the students to have real life experience. Having someone who works in forensics visit us and engage with the students gives them a chance to apply their knowledge in the real world.”
Students developed a thorough understanding about drugs, legislation and the origins of certain substances. Joe shared interesting stories and encounters he has had in his career which kept the students engaged.
Joe says: “It has been a pleasure to be invited to the College and talk about this subject in a way that is not glamourising drugs but ensuring the students have the knowledge about them.”
