Is 2026 the year for a career change? It’s not too late to upskill or completely change your job and Solihull College & University Centre is here to help you find your way!

The College offers a wide range of adult and professional courses to help local people take steps towards a new career, upskill, or take on a side hustle. Many courses are even free of charge.

How about turning your passion for fitness into a career? Award nominee Lecturer Sarah Redshaw Laing used to work a corporate 9-5 job but switched into personal training a few years ago, and was recently nominated for a top award. She now teaches the next generation of trainers as part of our fitness courses for adults.

If you want to rewrite your future, our Write Your Book bootcamp  is the perfect place to start writing your own chapter. The Bootcamp is a comprehensive, hands-on course that will guide you through the entire book planning, writing, editing, and publishing process.

If spending time with animals is a priority, how about working with dogs and maybe becoming a pet sitter, dog groomer or a dog walker? The number of house and pet-sitters in the UK rose by 55 percent in 2023, according to pet sitting website TrustedHousesitters, so demand is on the up.

The College offers a wide range of dog-related courses to get you on the path to success including Canine First Aid as well as upskilling with the The VetSkill VTEC Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants – this course is designed for those who are seeking future employment opportunities within the dog grooming sector or those currently working in a voluntary or employed position in a professional salon.

If the digital world is spinning too fast, we offer a range of digital skills courses, including an introduction to the world of AI and the increasingly popular Esports and game design.

We also offer ‘Into Employment’ courses for retail/hospitality  and social care. These courses guarantee an interview with a potential employer and are recruiting now!

Floristry, languages, vehicle maintenance, cake decorating, pottery, creative writing and dance are just a few of the courses on offer.

Free English and Maths courses are also available for anyone wanting to improve their confidence, support their children, or take the next step in their career. Daytime, evening, and remote options are all available.

This is just a glimpse into what the College can offer adults who want to study around work and family life. Regardless of your interests and career ambitions, and no matter what your age, background or experience, take a look at the full offer and apply today!
