What will I study?

Throughout your studies, you will cover the following:

  • Core skills of bathing and drying dogs safely and effectively
  • Knowledge of different coat types and how they influence grooming techniques
  • Health checking
  • Recognising signs of common issues
  • Maintaining hygiene in a grooming setting
  • Customer service within the grooming industry

How will this course be delivered?

Five weekly sessions of two hours; a mixture of theory and practical sessions.

What qualifications will I get?

A college based certificate of attendance

How will I be assessed?

This course is a college certificate and there is no formal assessment. This course is designed to give you an introduction into dog grooming and give you the option to progress onto further courses.

How do I get a place on the course?

Applications can be completed on the Solihull College website www.solihull.ac.uk or you can register your interest by e-mailing james.clarke@solihull.ac.uk. No prior experience is required, just a love for dogs and a willingness to learn.

What are the entry requirements?

None, apart from a keen interest in dog grooming

What can I do after this course?

This course can lead to the VETSKILL VTEC Level 2 in Dog Grooming Assistants or the SEG Award in Dog Grooming.
