Where will this course lead?

This nine month programme is ideal for you if you wish to pursue a health related career including Paediatric Nursing, Paramedical Science, Midwifery, Adult Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Operating Department Practitioners, Occupational Therapy.

What will I study?

The Access to Health course is made up of the following subjects:

- Psychology
- Health Studies
- Biological Sciences
- Study Skills

How will this course be delivered?

The course is taught in a classroom environment where you will participate in tutor led sessions, discussions, presentations and group work.

What qualifications will I get?

Access to Health Level 3 Skills & Education Group.

How will I be assessed?

There are no external exams as part of this course however there will be some timed essays for some subjects and tests for Biological Sciences. You will be assessed through coursework, in-class tests and presentations.

How do I get a place on the course?

You must complete an application form and you will then be invited to a one to one interview.

What are the entry requirements?

Must hold level 2 qualification in Maths and English (e.g. GCSE grade A/8 - C/4 or functional skills level 2) .

If you do not hold qualifications Maths and English there is a level 2 option available

What else do I need to know?

With the return of the nursing bursary from September 2020 - meaning degree level nursing students now receive at least £5,000 to study -  this is a great time to get into nursing!

You will be expected to attend 2 or 3 days a week at college.

You will also need to complete considerable self-directed study outside of the classroom.

You will be allocated a Personal Tutor at the start of your course who will support you during your time at college.

Solihull College & University Centre offers full time and part time courses for businesses and residents in Birmingham, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Coventry Warwickshire and the whole of the West Midlands.

What can I do after this course?

Most Access to Health students make an application to university within the first term at college. Your tutors will support you through the application process.

Other progression routes could lead to full time or part time employment.
