Where will this course lead?

Progress to the Pearson BTEC Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Year 2, and from there pay for just one further year at university to gain a full Bachelor's degree. Alternatively, move directly into employment - the qualification is widely recognised by UK employers, and some professional bodies, including the Chartered Management Institute, offer exemptions to holders of this qualification.

What will I study?

Eight mandatory units totalling 120 credits: The Contemporary Business Environment, Marketing Processes and Planning, Management of Human Resources, Leadership and Management, Accounting Principles, Managing a Successful Business Project, Operational Planning and Management, and Digital Business in Practice.

How will this course be delivered?

Full-time delivery across three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), running for one academic year (38 teaching weeks, September to June). Each unit involves 60 guided learning hours of taught contact time plus 90 hours of independent study. Sessions combine lectures, seminars, workshops and case-study based learning, alongside structured personal and professional development (PPD) and assignment support sessions.

What qualifications will I get?

On successful completion, students achieve the Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Leadership and Management for England - a nationally recognised qualification that can lead directly into employment or progress to Level 5 (HND) and onward to a full Bachelor's degree.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is entirely through coursework - written assignments, reports, presentations and applied projects (internal and external)- graded Pass, Merit or Distinction against each unit's learning outcomes. There is no single end-of-year exam; assessment is spread across the year so students can build a portfolio of real, professional-standard work.

How do I get a place on the course?

Apply through the standard college admissions process. Applicants who don't meet the standard academic entry criteria can apply via an alternative entry route, which includes an interview assessing motivation, relevant experience and readiness for higher-level study - relevant work experience can be considered in place of formal qualifications.

What are the entry requirements?

A-Levels, BTEC National Diploma, Access to HE, T Level or an equivalent Level 3 qualification in a related subject; or significant relevant work experience assessed via the alternative entry route. GCSE grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent) is also required, with additional support available where needed.

What else do I need to know?

The programme also offers a modular pathway for students who want to study individual units rather than commit to the full year, with new intake points in September and January. This suits people already in work who want to develop specific skills, or employers who wish to fund individual modules as part of a CPD plan.

Thursday will have a finish time of 12:30.
