Katie Miller, who has been nominated in the Quality Improvement Professional of the Year category, comments: “It’s an honour to be nominated for an award that recognises the impact of quality improvement. Over the past year, I’ve focused on using competitions to raise standards and build students’ confidence and resilience. Through intensive WorldSkills training and close collaboration with colleagues across the West Midlands, we’ve developed a more consistent, high-quality approach that is already making a measurable difference for our learners.”

Rebecca Phipps, nominated for Quality Champion of the Year, comments: “Over the years, I’ve seen the real challenges that many learners and mentors face – particularly around mental health and neurodiversity – and I’ve tried to play a small part in improving things where I can. I’m grateful to work alongside so many thoughtful, committed people who care deeply about making education more inclusive and supportive for everyone.”

The College is also being recognised alongside South Staffordshire College and Dudley College in the Quality Collaboration of the Year category. This award recognises outstanding joint efforts between two or more organisations and celebrates partnerships that have successfully enhanced the quality of education or employability, improved operational processes, and delivered exceptional outcomes.

The 3 colleges have worked together on several inter-college competitions with more colleges now coming on board. These competitions have helped students grow their confidence and resilience, alongside networking and problem-solving skills.

The awards take place next month in Leeds.
