Digital T-Level introduced for Solihull students

1st December 2020

Solihull College & University Centre have been working collaboratively with employers and sector leaders to launch the brand-new T-Level in Digital Production, Design & Development.

T-Levels are new, two-year technical study programmes, designed with employers to give young people the skills that industries need. The equivalent to 3 A-Levels, T-Levels provide a mixture of industry-specific technical knowledge and a 315-hour industry placement.

The College was selected by the Department for Education as part of the second wave of further education providers to deliver T-Levels.

The programme offers a practical route to careers in digital software development. Students will cover areas including business context and environment, emerging technologies, project planning, development, and testing of IT systems, as well as the use of collaborative technologies and more. Students will then have the chance to choose between progressing to further study, such as higher or degree apprenticeships or university, or moving straight into industry.

Students will spend 4 days each week at the College studying for the qualification and 1 day each week on industry placement.

Mohammed Maher, Head of School for Computing at the College, understands the importance of the new course. He states: “This is a new, exciting qualification, which crucially gives learners the opportunity to work with employers and also study challenging new course content with future employment in mind.”

The T-Level is now open for applications for September 2021.
