Travel & Tourism students from Solihull College & University Centre were recently given valuable insight into the travel industry thanks to a guest speaker session delivered by Red Sea Holidays.
The visit gave students the opportunity to hear first-hand about career pathways, job roles, and progression opportunities within the travel and tourism sector. Speaker Tracy shared her professional experience working for Red Sea Holidays, including how the company promotes and sells its products both through a Cambridge-based office and at major travel trade exhibitions.
The session linked directly to students’ course content, supporting both the Marketing unit and the Cruise Industry unit. Tracy spoke in detail about Nile River cruises in Egypt, providing real-world context to students’ studies and helping them understand how cruise products are marketed, sold, and delivered to customers.
Travel & Tourism Lecturer, Karin Kostialova, explains: “Guest speakers play a vital role in bringing the curriculum to life. Hearing directly from industry professionals helps our students understand how their learning applies in the real world and inspires them to explore the wide range of career opportunities available within the travel and tourism industry.”
Students study a wide range of topics relevant to the sector, including worldwide travel destinations, adventure tourism, overseas representatives, holiday park hosting, conference and event planning, and tour guiding.
The College continues to work closely with employers such as Red Sea Holidays to enhance student learning and ensure courses reflect current industry practice.
