This course, in combination with the follow-on qualifications, HND and BSc, is designed to support you in completing the exam element of the UKCAA/EASA Part 66 Certifiying Engineers License if you already have a job role in a relevant industry. You must also accrue 5 years of practical experience in an aircraft maintenance role in order to be awarded the full training certificate. This can be done alongside your studies or after graduation. In addition, there are many other aerospace relevant jobs which are available to graduates of either the HND or BSc top-up within manufacturing and repair/overhaul in the Midlands. The programme has been aligned to the academic requirements for professional recognition as an Incorporated Engineer when combined with the BSc top-up.
This course builds on the fundamental knowledge developed in the HNC and is designed to support successful completion of the UKCAA/EASA exams required for the UKCAA/EASA Part 66 Certifiying Engineers License training certificate when combined with the following BSc top-up.

The course is delivered in a variety of ways including face to face in the classroom with lectures, group activities, discussions, and seminars; via practical work; also, on-line resources and activities are used in modules for independent learning; support is provided via one-to-one tutorials.
The Centre for Advanced Aeronautical provision is fully equipped to industry standards including an aviation hangar housing a Jetstream aircraft, a 737 simulator, two wind tunnels, engine test equipment, fluid dynamics test equipment and hydro-pneumatics circuit building equipment. Please enquire about options for part-time study as attendance will depend on securing work in a relevant industry.
HNC - Two Years Part Time - 1 Day per week
Successful completion of 120 credits Higher National Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, approved by Coventry University.
A variety of methods of assessment will be used within the programme, including coursework, assignments, examinations, practical hand-skill assessments, experiments, and presentations. Most modules consist of more than one method of assessment. You will be required to sit additional examinations for the UKCAA/EASA modules, the cost of £40.00 per UKCAA/EASA exam.

Entrants to the course normally possess the following:
A minimum of two years relevant work experience and a current role in an appropriate workplace setting, and:
A BTEC Level 3 Qualification (MM),
or an A-Level including a C in one relevant subject area such as Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics,
or T-Level - Pass (at C or above)
In addition, a Grade C/4 or above in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent will normally be required.
We have a wide selection of library books and electronic books for you to use for this course. There is no set text. You will be expected to supply your own stationery such as folders, paper, and pens. Connection to the internet is expected, but facilities are available at college to do this if necessary.
Working within an aircraft maintenance role for 5 years will enable you to achieve the UKCAA/EASA Part 66 if you successfully complete the UKCAA/EASA Part 66 exams which are additional, independent, and separate to the assessment for the HNC, HND and BSc top-up Aircraft Maintenance.
Failure in the UKCAA/EASA module exams do not threaten your ability to pass the Degree course.
This course is a part-time programme, and you will be expected to attend 1 day per week between the hours of 9-5, timetables will be issued to successful applicants during induction and enrolment in September of the current Academic year.

Optional: Project based costs may be incurred if components are required which are not available through college stock.
Optional: 3D printing may form part of a project. Where possible, the college will pay for the printing materials. However, for larger designs, a contribution may be required from the student.
