What will I study?

Session 1: Drawing Session - 22/7/24

Welcome to our family art lesson, a delightful journey where adults and children can learn and create together! This session will focus on fundamental drawing techniques such as cross hatching, stippling and other mark making techniques. These methods will not only help you improve your drawing skills but will also be a fun way for families to bond through art. After mastering these techniques, we'll move on to a collaborative project where families will create a final piece together using the skills learnt within the session.

Session 2: Collage Session - 29/7/24

Collage art offers a unique and engaging way for adults and children to explore creativity together. This lesson invites families to dive into the world of collage using a variety of materials and techniques, encouraging both individual expression and collaborative art-making. By the end of the lesson, participants will not only have created unique pieces of art but will also have shared a meaningful, creative experience with their family members.

Session 3: Pattern, Art Session - 5/8/24

Unleash your creativity and immerse yourself in a world of vibrant colours and bold patterns in this engaging art course designed for both adults and children. Whether you're a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, this class offers a fun and inclusive environment where everyone can explore their artistic potential. Under the guidance of our experienced teacher, participants will learn various techniques to create eye-catching patterns using a variety of mediums including oil pastels, markers, and coloured pencils. Join us for a session of creativity, colour, and fun! By the end of the session, you'll walk away with a newfound appreciation for bold patterns and a masterpiece to proudly display.

Session 4: Oil Pastel Session - 12/8/24

Join us for a unique, one-off art lesson designed for adults and their children to explore the vibrant world of oil pastels and mixed media! This engaging workshop invites participants of all skill levels to delve into a variety of techniques, from blending and layering to sgraffito and texturising. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you'll discover how to create rich, dynamic artworks that burst with colour and depth.

Session 5: Painting Session - 19/12/24

Join us for an exciting art lesson designed for adults and their children to explore the vibrant world of acrylic painting! This hands-on workshop is perfect for families looking to bond over a creative activity while learning various painting techniques. Our experienced teacher will guide you through the basics of colour mixing, brushwork, and a variety of painting techniques, ensuring that both beginners and those with some experience can enjoy the process.

How will this course be delivered?

A 2.5 hr session at Blossomfield campus delivered by an experienced art teacher.

What are the entry requirements?

You must be 19 years or older.

What else do I need to know?

Your child must be 7 years or older to join you on this course.

There is only 1 child space per adult. You cannot bring more than 1 child with you.

What can I do after this course?

We can offer family learning at your child's school - if you enjoy the session, please ask your school to contact debbie.mcleod@solihull.ac.uk. We offer 10 week courses where you can learn how to help your child with their English and maths, learn about grammar, or even complete a English and maths course yourself.

We also offer art for well-being and art for leisure courses for adults.
